A stretched spring (Romans12:11)

When you play with a metal coil spring, you will see it return to its original shape when you pull and release it. However, what is going to happen when the pulling force goes beyond an elastic limit? It won't be able to go back to the original length and shape, hanging like a withered flower.

The metal coil spring can be a great analogy for our spiritual journey. If you take it easy too much and get lazy, it may become impossible to go back to the original spiritual life we had before. Then, We cannot be ready when God wants to use us to fulfill the great plan that he created for us.

How's your spiritual life nowadays? Please make sure to check if you are like a metal spring who lost the elastic limit. Do you pray, read and meditate bible, make efforts to practice God words, serve others, and dedicate your time and talent for those who are in need? Are you still passionate about God and loving others?

Why do we become lazy in our spiritual life like a too relaxed metal coil spring?

First, when we are too overjoyed with our achievement and feel too comfortable, we tend to get lazy. When everything goes smooth and life is too peaceful, our spiritual life become too relaxed as well. However, we need to remember Satan can take advantage of this situation.

Second, in contrast of the above situation, when we go through the toughest time we may become like a droopy metal spring. Even though we have a faith and hope, we encounter hardships and challenges. When we deal with too many of those problems, we become frustrated and disappointed.

Third, when we do not reflect on our spiritual lives we can get lazy. Today's passage is Apostle Paul's letter written to Christians in Rome. Apostle Paul says in Romans 12:11, Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord." I hope you remember and practice this verse in your life.
